CHALWYN

Chalwyn is an established UK-based manufacturer of diesel engine intake shut down valves and safety products. The company was founded in 1942 as manufacturers of kerosene-fueled Hurricane lanterns.
In the early 70's, Chalwyn was licensed by Esso Petroleum (Exxon) to produce automatic valves for diesel engines.
Through the 80's and 90's the company designed other engine safety products at the Poole factory, which was the property of the original family owners. In June 2008, Chalwyn became part of AMOT and production was moved to the AMOT facility in Bury St Edmunds, just north of London. Chalwyn currently manufactures diesel engine safety products that manage and control diesel engines as a potential ignition source in hazardous industrial areas.

Operating a diesel engine or driving a truck with a diesel engine into an area where combustable gas and vapors may be present makes your diesel engine a potential source of ignition that may cause catastrophic loss of property and personnel. Chalwyn's air intake shutdown valves are designed to automatically and safely stop a diesel engine should it start to overspeed due to a combustable mixture being drawn into the engine intake.
Several of Chalwyn's products complement MurCal's current product line and will prove useful with many of our customers. If you own or operate equipment or vehicles with diesel engines in hazardous areas, please take a look at the quality products from Chalwyn. Some quick links are below :
Chalwyn recently produced a short video which explains the causes of diesel engine runaway and highlights the importance of air intake shut down valves and other safety equipment. Please take a look.
