WHAT'S NEW

December 1, 2008
MurCal received certification from the SCAQMD to provide a required new service to engine owners and operators: periodic measurement of NOx and CO engine emissions using a portable electrochemical analyzer.
Recently, the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) passed District Rule 1110.2, requiring operators of all stationary and portable engines over 50 rated brake horsepower (50 bhp) to periodically measure NOx and CO engine emissions using a portable electrochemical analyzer to ensure compliance with emissions limits.
The basic purposes of the Rule are to improve the compliance record of stationary engines with better monitoring, record keeping and reporting; and to achieve further emission reductions from stationary engines based on the cleanest available technologies.
MurCal has taken the necessary steps to help engine operators reach compliance. The South Coast Air Quality Management District offered a portable emissions monitoring training and certification class, which gave our organization an opportunity to learn and become certified. Robert Aal, our Service and Installation Technician, and Terri Stock, our Southern California Regional Sales Manager attended the AQMD-approved training program and obtained a certification issued by AQMD.
Robert explained, “MurCal understands the equipment and procedures for conducting accurate portable testing, maintenance and calibration of your equipment. We can now come to your facility and run a simplified monitoring protocol that meets EPA and local air district requirements.”
MurCal is now available to help conduct an accurate portable emissions check on your engines.
