| MAP Sensor: Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor |
The Compliance Controls Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor is a pressure transducer that is connected to the intake manifold. It is used to measure the pressure of air in the intake manifold prior to induction into the engine. The sensor uses a 5 volt reference and is capable of measuring the intake manifold pressure from 0 to 43 pounds per square inch.
The pressure reading is used for the mapping of the pre and pos HEGO sensor targets and is also used in conjunction with other inputs to calculate the airflow rate to the engine. This data is used to estimate an engine load for the default valve positions in the event of a sensor failure.
