The New "EMISSIONATOR" Emission Control System

A Cost-Effective and Reliable Solution to Emission Compliance for Rich-Burn, Spark-Ignited, Natural Gas AG Engines

With a growing concern over the release of harmful pollutants into our atmosphere, the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District (SJVUAPCD) amended District Rule 4702, which regulates air pollution emissions. In response, MurCal recorded a conditional certification with the new "Emissionator" Emission Control System, an add-on package for your rich-burn, spark-ignited, natural gas engines.

The control system is an exclusive kit that includes component parts, custom installation and certification. We are currently introducing the system to farmers in the San Joaquin Valley who power water irrigation pumps with natural gas fueled internal combustion engines, rated at greater than 50 brake horsepower.

In order to make this solution available, MurCal contracted Environmental Management Solutions, Inc. (EMS) to provide emissions source testing at the exhaust stacks of two rich-burn, natural gas- fired, internal combustion engines owned and operated by Russ Schott Farms. Russ Schott Farms owns and operates two rich burn, natural gas fired, internal combustion engines located in Pixley, CA. These engines, one Cummins 200 HP Model G855 and one Caterpillar 365 HP Model 3406, are coupled to water pumps that provide irrigation water to the farm.
The purpose of this test was to determine compliance with SJVAPCD Rule 4702 and to demonstrate the control efficiency of the MurCal “Emissionator” Control System. The system consists of a Miratech Model VXC Non-Selective 3 way catalytic converter, a Compliance Controls Model AFR1 air/fuel ratio controller, and a Compliance Controls Heated Exhaust Gas Oxygen (HEGO) sensor.
Each engine was retrofitted with a MurCal “Emissionator” emission control system. The engines were operated at a load condition representative of the manufacturer’s maximum rated capacity during all compliance test runs. All testing was completed April 16 - April 17, 2009. All test runs demonstrated that both the Cummins G855 and the Caterpillar 3406 were in compliance with Rule 4702.
The parameters and pollutants monitored were:
• Oxygen (O2 % dry vol.)
• Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx ppmdv)
• Carbon Monoxide (CO ppmdv)
• Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC ppm)

Our exclusive arrangement with suppliers means that you can only buy this emission system through MurCal. Your friends at MurCal beat the competition by offering you added value: a complete turn-key solution, including parts, installation, service and air quality district certification. That means you can keep your engines running. The "Emissionator" system is pre-approved, cost-efficient and reliable.

MurCal’s strength lies in our ability to not only supply the technology, but to provide personal service through completion of your installation. We aren’t just selling you parts. We are providing the solution.
