Voltage Control Over-Energizer Modules
Trombetta’s S500-A5, A6 and A7 are electronic controls for dual-winding solenoid applications. They are designed to enhance solenoid performance by increasing force capability and reducing operating temperature. These modules accept your 3-wire switched input (12 or 24V) and apply this input simultaneously to both the solenoid pull-in and hold windings. The relay then removes power from the pull-in coil and leaves only the hold-in coil energized to prevent coil burnout.
Some applications require a high force capacity in a relatively small package. Electronic controls for solenoids regulate the magnitude of electrical drive applied to the coil during the pull-in and/or hold operation of the solenoid to optimize performance of the solenoid. This allows industrial work solenoids of any size to achieve intermittent forces equal to or exceeding much larger solenoids, making them a great choice for applications with high pull-in force requirements at long working strokes. This control modulates energy through Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control of a single coil; thus, the performance benefit of 100% of the coil working at all times is achieved.

Trombetta builds three models of this particular style and function, differentiated simply by the connection type. The S500-A5 has terminal screw connectors and a factory installed jumper (+ aux jumped to + hot). The S500-A6 has terminal screw connectors with no jumper. The S500-A7 has the factory installed jumper along with faston connectors. Applications include valve actuators, switchgear, industrial brakes, engines and automation machines.
Each model may be used in 12 volt and 24 volt applications. In a 12 volt application, the max load current is 80 and the max power load is 1000 watts. An external contactor must be used for controlling the load on 24V pull-in coils. All models handle a 10-32 volt input range, and have an actuation time of 0.4 to 0.6 seconds; 1 cycle per second maximum cycle rate; reverse polarity protection.
