Who is Briggs & Stratton?

For over a century, Briggs & Stratton has established itself as a global leader in power solutions. Headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this company is known as the largest producer of engines for outdoor power equipment worldwide and is a key player in commercial power products. Serving customers on six continents, Briggs & Stratton provides a wide range of products under various brands, including Vanguard®. Briggs & Stratton products are engineered to help people get work done with durability and efficiency.

How Briggs & Stratton Entered the Battery Market

Briggs & Stratton’s journey into battery manufacturing is one of innovation and strategic adaptation. In 2014, the company embarked on a research initiative to explore lithium-ion battery options to electrify its equipment, making their products even more robust. At first, Briggs & Stratton sought to partner with a major cell manufacturer to develop a battery pack, but when the collaboration didn’t materialize, the company made a pivotal decision to take on in-house battery manufacturing. This strategic shift led Briggs & Stratton to develop its own battery packs, tailored specifically to the demands of their engines and the rugged conditions their equipment often encounters.

After years of development, Briggs & Stratton launched its first commercial 5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack in 2019. This release marked a turning point in the company’s legacy, bridging the gap between engine power and battery-driven solutions for their global markets.

Expanding Battery Production:

Manufacturing in Wauwatosa, WI, and Tucker, GA

In 2020, the demand for Briggs & Stratton’s battery technology reached new heights. To meet this demand, the company established two battery production facilities—one at its headquarters in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and another, larger-scale manufacturing plant in Tucker, Georgia.

Tucker, Georgia Facility: Built as a high-capacity production hub, the Tucker facility is capable of producing tens of thousands of batteries annually. With multiple production lines, this plant has become central to manufacturing Briggs & Stratton’s "Vanguard" commercial battery systems.

Wauwatosa, Wisconsin Facility: In Wauwatosa, production primarily supports research, development, and engineering, with the creation of prototypes and testing innovations to further enhance Briggs & Stratton’s battery technology.

Vanguard: The Power of Commercial Lithium-Ion Batteries

Briggs & Stratton's Vanguard battery line is designed specifically for commercial applications, where reliability and performance are critical. The Vanguard battery systems power a range of commercial vehicles and machinery, bringing dependable energy solutions to industries that demand long-lasting power and durability.

A Growing Market for Battery Solutions

Driven by market demand for reliable lithium-ion batteries in commercial sectors, Briggs & Stratton’s expansion into battery production is a testament to their commitment to innovation and adaptability. From professional lawn and turf equipment to robust power management systems, their batteries are designed to power heavy-duty applications, reflecting the company’s reputation for quality and dependability.

The Shift to Non-Venting Regulators: A Game-Changer for Oil and Gas Emissions Control

In the oil and gas industry, emissions control has become a top priority as regulations tighten standards for natural gas emissions. The choice between venting and non-venting regulators is now more critical than ever, with companies seeking sustainable solutions to meet environmental standards and improve operational efficiency. The Problem with Venting Regulators Venting regulators have long been industry staples, effectively managing pressure in production equipment like separators and compressors. However, their design releases small amounts of gas during each operation, contributing to harmful natural gas emissions. As environmental concerns grow, this once-overlooked issue has come under scrutiny. The Rise of Non-Venting Regulators Beaumont Manufacturing and Distribution (BMD) offers innovative solutions to address these challenges. Their non-venting regulators, including the RG10, RG20, and RG50 models, manage pressure without releasing gas into the atmosphere. Instead, these regulators redirect gas back into the system, providing several key benefits: Compliance with EPA regulations: Non-venting regulators help companies meet the requirements of Quad O and its successors. Reduced environmental impact: By preventing natural gas release, these regulators significantly lower emissions. Improved efficiency: Capturing gas that would otherwise be lost leads to better resource utilization. Retrofitting for the Future For companies with existing infrastructure, BMD offers conversion kits that transform venting regulators into non-venting models. This allows operators to modernize their systems without the need for complete overhauls, making the transition more cost-effective and manageable. Beyond Compliance: Sustainability and Efficiency Adopting non-venting regulators isn't just about meeting regulatory requirements. It's a strategic move towards sustainability and operational efficiency. By lowering emissions, reducing waste, and retaining more product for sale, companies can position themselves for long-term success in an evolving industry. The shift to non-venting regulators represents a significant step forward in emissions control for the oil and gas sector. As the industry continues to adapt to stricter environmental standards, these innovative solutions offer a path to compliance, sustainability, and improved operational performance.
