While MurCal has been an active participant in the Diesel Progress Summit since its inception in 2019, including being part of the judging process for 2 of the years, it was not until they added a new category that we felt we should see if we can win an award.
With the addition of the “Digital Technology Award” we decided to do a Submission. This award recognizes achievement in digital and electronic controls and monitoring products used in mobile and stationary applications.
While MurCal is good at creating technology that helps to lighten the load for our customers, such as the AGZone (AgZone™ Keypads | MurCal) and the MTU HV1000 replacement (HV1000 to PV700 Display Conversion Kit (6522032kit) (murcal.com)), we are not too good at bragging about it.
Hence, we decided that our PV500-MC (MurCal Standard PV500 with SmartCommand™) was something to enter as we were helping lots of smaller OEMs with their instrumentation solutions using this product. We had also recently added a new marketing person, so we felt confident in this submission.
There were a lot of applicants in this category, so we were thrilled to hear that we made the finals because these awards highlight those achievements that, while not apparent or visible, make today’s machinery the most intelligent, most productive, most efficient, safest and most environmentally responsible products ever built. It was an honor to be included in this mix.
The fourth Diesel Progress Summit Awards event took place on September 26 & 27, 2022 at the Loews Chicago O’Hare in Rosemont, Ill. and the focus was on the dramatic changes in engines and powertrains that are being driven by emission regulations and advances in hybrid, electrification and other technologies.
A couple of our team members attended the Summit in Chicago, where they learned more about the industry and hoped to win.
It was a great experience, even though we didn't win. It will be interesting to repeat the whole experience next year with an entirely different product. Moreover, next year's event will be held in Louisville, Kentucky, the favorite city of our President!
