BMD is excited to announce the upcoming release of its latest innovation: the CV14 Control Valve with the revolutionary ECO Piston, developed in partnership with Capture Technology. This patent-pending, emissions-free control valve is designed to help operators comply with the increasingly stringent OOOOb/c emissions regulations, while also offering an efficient, cost-effective alternative to traditional gas-operated pneumatic controls.

A Game-Changing Technology for Zero Emissions

The ECO Piston Control Valve is engineered to operate entirely free of emissions by utilizing high-pressure input from onsite production equipment to actuate the valve, eliminating the need for instrument air or other environmentally harmful systems. This innovative process works by redirecting the exhaust from high-pressure sources back into a lower-pressure system, effectively neutralizing emissions.

For example, the ECO Piston can take high-pressure input from a compressor and route the exhaust back to the compressor’s suction side. Alternatively, it can link a high-pressure separator with another, lower-pressure separator. By harnessing this pressure exchange, operators can achieve the same level of valve control without emitting harmful gases into the atmosphere.

Key Features of the CV14 with ECO Piston

The CV14 control valve with ECO Piston comes equipped with cutting-edge technology and versatile features that make it a powerful tool for reducing emissions while maintaining reliability and performance. Key features include:

1” Body and ISO 15848 Certified Packing: BMD’s ISO 15848 certified Patent Pending Packing ensures long-lasting performance and compliance with strict emission standards.

Range of Trim Sizes and Materials: The CV14 offers various trim sizes and materials to suit different operational needs, providing operators with flexibility in their configurations.

Maintenance-Friendly Design: Maintenance is straightforward, as the valve’s design allows for service or trim adjustments without needing to remove the valve body from the line, minimizing downtime.

High-Cycle, Maintenance-Free Piston Actuator: The ECO Piston is paired with a high-cycle piston actuator that requires minimal maintenance. It comes with an electric solenoid valve rated for Class I, Div 1 hazardous locations, available in 6VDC, 12VDC, and 24VDC options.

Addressing the Challenges of Emission Control

As the EPA continues to enforce stricter fugitive emission regulations, such as the OOOOb/c requirements, operators are seeking alternatives to traditional gas-operated pneumatic controls. Currently, many operators face two primary options: installing onsite air compressors or using electric actuators. Both of these solutions, however, come with significant drawbacks, including high costs and reduced reliability over time.

BMD’s new ECO Piston offers a highly attractive alternative. This "hybrid" actuator can still be powered by field gas but operates emissions-free by leveraging a pressure exchange system between high- and low-pressure components onsite, such as HP and LP separators or scrubbers.

The valve’s actuation is controlled by an electric level controller that sends an on/off signal to the solenoid, ensuring precise control without the need for an instrument air supply. This innovative design reduces maintenance costs and minimizes wear and tear on air compressor systems, making it a more sustainable and cost-efficient option.

Meeting EPA Regulations While Reducing Costs

The ECO Piston Control Valve presents an effective, environmentally friendly solution for operators seeking to comply with EPA emission regulations without the added burden of high-cost air compressor installations. By offering a zero-emissions option that is reliable, cost-effective, and easy to maintain, BMD’s CV14 with ECO Piston is poised to become a leading choice for companies looking to stay ahead of regulatory changes.

We are confident that this technology will significantly reduce the operational costs associated with air compressors and help companies meet their emissions goals in a more sustainable way. Stay tuned for the official release of the CV14 with ECO Piston, and be sure to contact BMD for more information on how this groundbreaking valve can transform your operations.

The Shift to Non-Venting Regulators: A Game-Changer for Oil and Gas Emissions Control

In the oil and gas industry, emissions control has become a top priority as regulations tighten standards for natural gas emissions. The choice between venting and non-venting regulators is now more critical than ever, with companies seeking sustainable solutions to meet environmental standards and improve operational efficiency. The Problem with Venting Regulators Venting regulators have long been industry staples, effectively managing pressure in production equipment like separators and compressors. However, their design releases small amounts of gas during each operation, contributing to harmful natural gas emissions. As environmental concerns grow, this once-overlooked issue has come under scrutiny. The Rise of Non-Venting Regulators Beaumont Manufacturing and Distribution (BMD) offers innovative solutions to address these challenges. Their non-venting regulators, including the RG10, RG20, and RG50 models, manage pressure without releasing gas into the atmosphere. Instead, these regulators redirect gas back into the system, providing several key benefits: Compliance with EPA regulations: Non-venting regulators help companies meet the requirements of Quad O and its successors. Reduced environmental impact: By preventing natural gas release, these regulators significantly lower emissions. Improved efficiency: Capturing gas that would otherwise be lost leads to better resource utilization. Retrofitting for the Future For companies with existing infrastructure, BMD offers conversion kits that transform venting regulators into non-venting models. This allows operators to modernize their systems without the need for complete overhauls, making the transition more cost-effective and manageable. Beyond Compliance: Sustainability and Efficiency Adopting non-venting regulators isn't just about meeting regulatory requirements. It's a strategic move towards sustainability and operational efficiency. By lowering emissions, reducing waste, and retaining more product for sale, companies can position themselves for long-term success in an evolving industry. The shift to non-venting regulators represents a significant step forward in emissions control for the oil and gas sector. As the industry continues to adapt to stricter environmental standards, these innovative solutions offer a path to compliance, sustainability, and improved operational performance.
