Professional Journey

1. Can you tell us about your career journey and how you came to work here?

Jim sent me an email discussing employment at MurCal. At the first video meeting I met Bob Murphy and Jim Saunders and we discussed my prior experience as an Application Engineer.

2. What do you enjoy most about your role?

Everyday is a different challenge. I never know who will call or what email will need answers.

3. What has been your proudest achievement at work so far?

I enjoy working with Smith PPI. I have learned control systems from the folks at Smith.

4. What challenges have you faced, and how did you overcome them?

I had to learn Emission Controls, Zuken, PowerVision, AutoCAD, Google Docs, and the big business tool called Netsuite.

5. How do you stay motivated and productive in your role?

I am motivated by solving customer problems.  

Workplace Contributions

1. What do you think sets you apart as an employee?

I worked in the semiconductor industry and learned process improvement early in my career.

2. How do you approach teamwork and collaboration with colleagues?

We have great employees who help me get the job done. I can't do the job without their help. Thank you MurCal team members!

3. Can you share a project or task that you’re especially proud of contributing to?

Orange County S800 program upgrades across all locations.

4. How do you think your work impacts the company’s success?

If our customers are happy then MurCal is successful.

5. What advice would you give to others aiming for Employee of the Month?

Think about improving our processes which eliminate errors. The way we do things is how we eliminate mistakes.  

Personal Insights

1. What’s a fun fact about yourself that most of your coworkers might not know?

I love to build things in my spare time. 20 years ago my wife and I built a majority of our current home.

2. What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?

Competitive Water Skier during the warmer months of the year.

3. Do you have a favorite quote or mantra that inspires you?

What would my Father do in this situation?

Future Aspirations

1. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years professionally?

I aspire to be as knowledgeable and helpful as Jody!

2. Are there any skills or areas of expertise you’re currently working on developing?

S800 development, testing and improvement.

3. How has this recognition motivated or inspired you moving forward?

MurCal success is my motivation.

4. What’s one goal you’d love to achieve at this company?

I would like to see Municipal installations as close to 100% successful.

1. What do you enjoy most about working with your team or at this company?

This team has so much experience and knowledge. I learn everyday!

2. How would you describe the company culture in one sentence?

If our customers are successful then MurCal is successful.

3. Who has inspired or mentored you the most during your time here, and why?

That person would be Mr. Derrick! He always has time for my questions.
