Modern vehicles and equipment demand increasingly sophisticated power management solutions. MurCal offers two cutting-edge Power Distribution Module (PDM) options from industry leaders EGIS and Enovation Controls, each bringing unique capabilities to streamline and enhance electrical system management.

EGIS Power Distribution Module

EGIS has developed an innovative all-in-one solution that combines multiple critical functions into a single compact unit. This intelligent system integrates battery protection, power switching, circuit protection, and ground return buss, with an optional manual override switch. By consolidating four separate functions into one product, it significantly reduces installation space and total installed cost.

The EGIS PDM features three high-amp outputs (1-45A) that provide comprehensive circuit protection in a single solution. One of its standout features is the flexibility to configure three output groups independently for 24/7 operation, ignition switching, or time delay. For applications requiring additional circuits, the system is expandable up to 31 fused outputs when combined with RT or CT series fuse blocks.

Vehicle battery preservation is a key focus, with the unit achieving an industry-leading ultra-low power draw of just 1.3 mA in the off state, effectively eliminating vehicle downtime due to dead batteries. Optional under and over-voltage protection safeguards both the battery and electrical loads, with the ability to extend this protection to 24/7 configured outputs.

The system's user-friendly features include LED indicators for on/off status, blown fuse alerts, and voltage/temperature abnormalities. Multiple control options are available, including ignition or V-Sense triggers, along with remote and local kill switch capabilities that can isolate all auxiliary loads, including 24/7 outputs when needed. EGIS backs their PDM with an industry-leading 4-year warranty.

COMING SOON BY ENOVATION! TO BE RELEASED IN EARLY 2025

HIGH CURRENT PDM MODULE FOR EXTREME APPLICATION ENVIRONMENTS

The High Current Power Distribution Module (HCPDM) enhances CAN bus control networks by simplifying connections for high-current loads and complex input devices.

Built to SAE J1939 standards, it features six configurable inputs and eight high-current (40A) outputs, with additional low-current outputs for applications such as relay controls. The module integrates overcurrent and short-circuit protection along with real-time diagnostics and current feedback, adding reliability in challenging environments.

Its sealed metal enclosure supports operation in extreme conditions, including high heat and vibration, and allows for easy mounting. With flexible input configurations (digital, resistive, and analog) and a configurable sensor power output (5V or 10V), the HCPDM streamlines system wiring, minimizes harness complexity, and provides robust, intelligent power distribution.

Enovation Controls IX3212 Intelligent Xpansion™

The Murphy IX3212 takes a different approach to power distribution, replacing traditional relay and fuse boxes with advanced solid-state switches. This CAN bus-enabled module excels in controlling various high-current applications, from work lights and wiper motors to cooling fans and directional DC motors.

The IX3212 offers impressive output capabilities, with 12 channels each capable of switching or proportionally controlling loads up to 15A in precise 2.5A increments. A notable feature is the ability to pair outputs for H-bridge direction control, enabling the management of up to six electric motors. Each output includes built-in over-current detection and shutdown protection.

The module's input capabilities are equally impressive, featuring 12 digital inputs for switched battery, ground, and floating inputs. It also includes six 0-5V analog inputs and two resistive inputs, complete with a 5V sensor supply. For applications not requiring CAN bus control, the system can operate independently, with inputs directly triggering outputs without needing a separate controller.

The Shift to Non-Venting Regulators: A Game-Changer for Oil and Gas Emissions Control

In the oil and gas industry, emissions control has become a top priority as regulations tighten standards for natural gas emissions. The choice between venting and non-venting regulators is now more critical than ever, with companies seeking sustainable solutions to meet environmental standards and improve operational efficiency. The Problem with Venting Regulators Venting regulators have long been industry staples, effectively managing pressure in production equipment like separators and compressors. However, their design releases small amounts of gas during each operation, contributing to harmful natural gas emissions. As environmental concerns grow, this once-overlooked issue has come under scrutiny. The Rise of Non-Venting Regulators Beaumont Manufacturing and Distribution (BMD) offers innovative solutions to address these challenges. Their non-venting regulators, including the RG10, RG20, and RG50 models, manage pressure without releasing gas into the atmosphere. Instead, these regulators redirect gas back into the system, providing several key benefits: Compliance with EPA regulations: Non-venting regulators help companies meet the requirements of Quad O and its successors. Reduced environmental impact: By preventing natural gas release, these regulators significantly lower emissions. Improved efficiency: Capturing gas that would otherwise be lost leads to better resource utilization. Retrofitting for the Future For companies with existing infrastructure, BMD offers conversion kits that transform venting regulators into non-venting models. This allows operators to modernize their systems without the need for complete overhauls, making the transition more cost-effective and manageable. Beyond Compliance: Sustainability and Efficiency Adopting non-venting regulators isn't just about meeting regulatory requirements. It's a strategic move towards sustainability and operational efficiency. By lowering emissions, reducing waste, and retaining more product for sale, companies can position themselves for long-term success in an evolving industry. The shift to non-venting regulators represents a significant step forward in emissions control for the oil and gas sector. As the industry continues to adapt to stricter environmental standards, these innovative solutions offer a path to compliance, sustainability, and improved operational performance.
