Many Municipalities utilize our S800 Panels for their pump, booster, well, flood, and lift stations. The control platform embodies the culmination of the experience we have gained over 65 years in the pump control business. We originally developed these systems to offer a comprehensive municipal pump control panel, specifically engineered for multi-engine systems. Municipalities can control new stations or upgrade existing stations. As a specialized pump controller, it is a more economical choice when compared to PLC based systems.
The S800 comes equipped with a large 7” touch screen (HMI) with rich, full-color graphics and best-in-class sunlight readability; larger screens are also available. We enhanced the standard features, lowered the cost, increased the connectivity options, and increased the configurability by basing the controller on Linux, an open-source operating system.
Control
The S800 can be part of an engine driven pumping station upgrade. These upgrades normally include an Air Fuel Ratio controller (AFR), which can be built into S800 panel, ignition systems, and exhaust aftertreatment. MurCal partners with FW Murphy Production Controls and Johnson Matthey to create the right solution. These upgrades help to ensure decades of additional use out of your engine driven station.
In the past several years, many municipalities are converting their pump stations from Internal Combustion Engines to Electric Motor Applications because they are considered more environmentally friendly, easier to maintain, and simplify the need to meet tightening emission standards. Our S800 Control Panels are ready for this switch to Electric Motors Applications while still giving the variable speed capability that engines are designed for by working with Variable Frequency Drives while still bringing the pump control that MurCal is known for.
A Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) is a type of motor controller that drives an electric motor by varying the frequency and voltage supplied to the electric motor. Its primary function is to adjust the speed of an electric motor by changing the frequency of the electrical power supplied to it. This allows for fine control of the motor speed and torque, providing significant energy savings and performance enhancements.
VFDs reduce energy consumption by allowing motors to run at only the speed needed, rather than at full capacity Combining a VFD with a high-power electric pump motor can lead to optimal performance, energy savings, and enhanced control over the pumping process, making it a preferred setup in many industrial applications.
High power electric motors are used to drive the pumps in applications requiring significant power, such as in water treatment plants, oil and gas industries, or large manufacturing processes. Combining a VFD with a high-power electric pump motor can lead to optimal performance, energy savings, and enhanced control over the pumping process, making it a preferred setup in many industrial applications.
Communications
The S800 control system is Wi-Fi or cellular modem capable, and it serves as a specialized pump control platform with incorporated hardware. Our pumping specific web dashboard allows operators to monitor stations easily and remotely from an offsite computer, tablet, or mobile device, enabling greater efficiency. Users can also utilize text message alerts sent straight to their phone based on events, such as when an engine starts. This web and text solution can work for small or large teams, allowing anyone on the team to know what's going on at the station. Owners of multiple stations with s800 units installed can view each one on the same online dashboard.
The S800 is SCADA SYSTEM COMPATIBLE as well.
Reliable
The Series 800’s single board design eliminates most of the internal wiring and parts that is traditionally seen with PLC control panels, while retaining features such as true hardware interlocks for local and remote E-Stops, while eliminating the need to wire and house the PLC due to that already being part of the solution. This reduces upfront costs, makes the unit easier to service, and provides a lower cost of ownership over the life of the control system. It is also the only built for purpose Municipal pump controller on the market.
