As we discussed in our previous article, MurCal has partnered with several Wind Machine companies over the past several decades to modernize their equipment with sleeker, more advanced interface options.
Wind machines are one of the classic frost protection methods for farmers, pioneered in California back in the 1920s. Windmills are now used in many parts of the world to protect crops from frost and freezing. Almost all of California's citrus orchards are protected by wind machines and this trend is only expanding, and farmers are looking for superior frost protection built to last.
Our solution for the Wind Machine function is the frost protection setup of the PowerCore equipment. Using the PowerCore line of products, from Murphy, MPC-20, MPC-10, TEC-10, plus the Model 12 from Enovation, you’re assured reliability, durability, and easy maintenance with a switch that turns the system on when the frost arrives.
Auto starting is based on the temperature; for some customers it's on engines but for others it can be an electric motor. The advantage to the Enovation products is that they are very rugged so the units last a long time in the field.
The upgrades simplify the manufacturing process and MurCal’s custom programming makes our units even more user-friendly, streamlining the process.
Our engineers have customized some Modbus mapping for some customers to support their network needs and we also made wire harnesses for these customers.

The Products
TEC-10: PowerCore® Panel (40700495)
Murphy's PowerCore® TEC-10 panel provides full control of your engine including auto start/stop, auto throttling and display of both engine parameters and critical faults from the engine/application. The TEC-10 supports SAE J1939 CAN protocols for electronically governed engines as well as analog sensors on mechanical engines for fault and safety warnings/shutdowns.
The rugged TEC-10 panel may be mounted directly to the engine or engine/application cover. Built to endure industrial environments from full sun to wide temperature ranges, the panel features a high degree of sealing for dust and water as well as the ability to withstand high vibration.

MPC-10: Powercore® Controller (40700494)
Murphy's PowerCore® MPC-10 Controller is a general, all-purpose manual/auto start and manual/auto throttling engine controller designed with rental applications in mind. The controller is purposed primarily for applications where a wide array of inputs and outputs are not required. This is a powerful and rugged controller that supports J1939 CAN protocols for electronically governed engines as well as analog sensors on mechanical engines for fault and safety shutdowns.
The MPC-10 can be mounted and is designed in and for all-weather environments.
